Spring Culinary Inspirations

I just received my new cookbooks and I’m so looking forward to digging in! I’m hoping to get inspired by the new recipes or even learn some revised takes on old classics. I’m loving Heidi Swanson’s 101 Cookbooks blog. She redefines the old adage, that the taste of ‘natural foods cooking’ is boring or bland, with her appetizing and fresh approach.

G and I love Indian food and Madhur Jaffrey’s new cookbook will be a welcome addition to this household. Most of the Indian dishes we already enjoy at home are adapted from an old dog-eared favorite I have of hers from the 80’s.

I’m also a fan of Dorie Greenspan’s blog. This James Beard Foundation book award-winner has collaborated with the likes of culinary greats such as Pierre Herme, Daniel Boulud and the late Julia Child.

Look for a future post on a new Italian cookbook and a summer recipe I learned at a cooking class I took in the Upper Maremma of Tuscany!

If you like food blogs, you should keep an eye on http://www.julskitchen.com/ I am not sure if I like better the food or the photos!
For homey, hearty Italian food, also http://www.madonnadelpiatto.com is really good. Besides Letizia, the blogger, often writes about gluten free recipes.

Thanks for the two links Glo! I love the photography!
I am a food blog and cookbook junkie! I can never have too much of either. If you check the Inspirations list on my side bar you’ll see how much I love them. The most recent Italian food blog I discovered last week was http://memoriediangelina.blogspot.com/ We both absolutely love Italian food! You’re such a lucky girl getting all those lovely Italian sweets for Easter! Mmmm…
